The 12-Year-Old Who Saved His Family — and Impressed the Fire Chief
When a fire broke out in his Petersburg, Virginia home, seventh-grader Romir Parker didn't panic. He got his family out. Then the fire chief made him an offer.
Romir Parker was 12 years old and in seventh grade in Petersburg, Virginia when a fire broke out in his home.
He kept his head. He got his family out safely.
The local fire chief was so impressed by Romir's composure and quick thinking that he presented the boy with a special proclamation recognizing his bravery — and offered him a future job in the fire service when he comes of age.
Romir, a seventh grader, had done what many adults struggle to do in a crisis: stayed calm, acted fast, and made sure everyone made it out.
