A Homeless Man Helped Return Stolen Dog Ashes — and the Community Helped Him in Return

When Holly Dunn's chihuahua Tia passed away, she kept her ashes close. Then they were stolen. A homeless man in Seattle helped get them back — and strangers responded by changing his life.

Holly Dunn's chihuahua Tia had passed away, and Dunn kept Tia's cremated remains as a cherished memory of her beloved pet. When the ashes were stolen, Dunn was devastated.

She made flyers and spread the word, hoping someone would help.

A homeless man in Seattle stepped up. He helped locate and return Tia's stolen ashes to Dunn and her family.

When people heard what he had done, they responded. A crowdfunding campaign was launched for the man who had helped, and the community raised thousands of dollars — enough to help him get back on his feet.

One small act of compassion, returned many times over.
